bees dig flowering artichokes

going to the roof just to watch the bees is not practical nor desirable (from the roof’s wear standpoint).  so i noticed some bees coming to the artichoke flowers today and took this little video (and only after uploading it did i notice there are many more like it on youtube):

  1. omigosh. so fascinating. i never thought bees could be like that. i thought they just gingerly sip the nectar from flowers. in this video they look so rough, digging deep into the flower, pulling on the purple strands, and rubbing themselves all over. this is new to me. thanks. i enjoyed it.
